Mortgage advisor advice

I'm Currently looking for a role as a mortgage advisor but I'm not sure what the best way to go about it is.
I am looking at a home study level 3 CeMap qualification which asks for 100 hours of study and 3 exams at the end.
I am studying art and design at college currently but I have decided that although I love art, college is something that I don't particularly enjoy hence my decision to quit.
At the moment I have a Saturday job working at a local car showroom selling cars and taking payments for LPG. I have worked there for nearly 2 years and I have a job working as a Sunday paper boy which is coming up to 5 years experience.
I've been looking at jobs in the financial industry such as sales advisor and customer advisor with little avail. I would like to become qualified as a mortgage advisor therefore but I am not sure as to how I go about it as some companies are asking for a strong background in sales and experience to in the financial industry.!
Many thanks
