Please HELP!
A while ago I started reading posts on how to reclaim back charges for my partner. He really wanted to get a company to do it but reading how it was done I thought I could do it for him.
Most of his PPI was through barclays so I wrote him a letter which I copied most of it from here including all previous addresses etc and the £10 fee.
My partner received a letter back stating:
Unfortunatley we have not been able to locate the information you are requesting from the detail provided. If you are able to provided any additional information such as account or card numbers or paperwork connected with the accounts please provide it to the address above and we will be happy to conduct further enquiries.
Im sorry we have not been able to assist you further at this stage. As we have not been able to fulfil the request I enclose your £10 postal order.
We are really stuck with what to do next??? as we dont have account numbers any letters etc only can provide them with last addressess.
Do you think they are trying it on?
Any help on what we can do gratefully appriciated x

No. However, you probably have a fairly low skilled worker looking up the data. So, it could be a genuine mistake. Or it could be that your data is now too old and has either been destroyed or archived into a non-relevant filing system (increasingly happens on closed accounts over 6 years old)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

A "relevant filing system" is one which a reasonably competent temp could retrieve the requested data from with the information provided and without specialist knowledge of the firm's systems. So if all they have is a name and a date of birth and it is not filed that way you are stuck.
In theory, it might be possible to trace an individuals details by other means. For example, you can make a good guess at the number of somebody's driving licence by their date of birth and their name. But that is specialist knowledge that a temp would not have.
If, on the other hand, the information was held by account number and you knew that number then if you told them it a temp could be expected to find it so, assuming it really was your data, you would be entitled to it.0 -
I submitted a claim to barclays in june 2011 for miss sold ppi as i am and was at the time registerd disabled, with copy of origanal agreement and ppi payments in september they wrote back to say they could find no evidance of my having ppi if i had further proof to send it to them and they would relook at my case . I wrote back to them again enclosing a copy of origanal document and stated this had already been sent to them. they aknowledged my new letter and said they would look in to it. To date they have not wrote back. I have telephoned them 6 times since christmas and spoke to diffrent people each time .1) I have been told my complaint was upheld on november 25th.2)I have been told my claim has gone to the back of the que and was in need of being reopened as claims after november were on a diffrent time line.3) I have been told I am simply waiting for an offer letter to be generated.4) I have been told that it is beong looked in to. 5)I have been told it was not being worked on as it was in the wrong department. Having been fed up with all the different excuses I have now contacted the fso and told barclays of this .6)Today I was told it was being reinvestigated and considerd .They advertise a time scale for payout and they advertise that you should not use ppi claim companies but it seems just as with thier miss selling of ppi they are miss advertising by climing to pay with in certain time lines as they do not pay they are in fact worse then any car sales man and use every trick in the book. I sent them proof of miss sold ppi and proof that it should never have been sold to me and they wont make a decission :mad:0
