Capital One refusing full disclosure of account

I followed the step by step guide for asking companies for full disclosure of my account.

Vanquis agreed on receipt of 1 so waiting for that to come through, and my account is still active with them - I'm on a DMP paying it off.

However Capital One are refusing as the account was settled and they say they are under no obligation to provide this and there is nothing that is/will or may become payable, which doen't make sense in itself anyway?! If something MAY become payable then they can't say there won't be anything to pay?!

Are they allowed to refuse? I'm still a customer of theirs as I have since opened another account.

I looked back over some old statements which shows PPI payments which I think were started when the account was opened when I was 19 and being young, dumb and naive just assumed it was something that had to be one there.

It wasn't until I opened a new account elsewhere that I realised I had the choice.

Anyway any advice appreciated on what to do next would be appreciated. I don't see how a company can refuse to give details of your account with them??

If you made a S78 request under the CCA costing you £1 then they are correct. That only applies to accounts that are sill active of where the debt that particular contract applies to is still to be repaid.

You sent the wrong request in. You should have sent in the £10 data subject access request. Don't worry. The instructions on this site are wrong. Its a common error.
