Compromise Agreement - help needed

A friend has been offered a compromise agreement which they want to take however it only arrived Saturday morning with the cut off for return being this friday. It needs to be signed off by a legal advisor or CAB but due to location it can take several weeks to get an appointment with CAB and as they only recieve ESA they aren't in a position to pay for a solicitor. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks

  • What about ACAS , they can do COT3 but it may be too late to bring them in. Your friend could phone them and find out if it is possible.

Double check - in almost every single case the employer pays for a solicitor.

whats the fall back if they don't go down the CA route.

Why are they not getting paid?

What has led to the need for a CA.
  • off long term sick - no date in sight for return. Holiday pay accruing

If they try to terminate then full pay is due for the notice period anyway

I would just hang on, any deadline they try to put on the CA does them no good unless thy have another plan of action.
  • It is unusual for them not to be paying solicitors fees. If the deadline has some importance to them then maybe they can be persuaded to pay for the fees of a local lawyer in order to get it done in their timescales.
If not, as @getmore4less says, they need to come up with another plan.
