Hi
I am planning on organising an event in summer 08, a concert for a day in Berkshire to raise money for the Chiltern air ambulances.
They saved my life a year tomorrow.
Any tips on how to start? has anyone ever organised a concert for chairty?
Thanks

Chiltern airbus is for the chiltern hills aka home counties right? Near me, wahoo, might attend!
Get onto a few bands, just email a standard mails or email out making it look like its an individual email or mails not a blatant fire out one...
Good luck with it though!
Nearer the time, advertise with posters in shop widnows, telegraph polls, bins, anything!

I'm sure lots of local up and coming bands will be interested in playing if it gets them air time. You might be able to get a 'has been' band to go from the 70's or 80's for free if it's a charity event. You will also need a compare.
The local radio station may also be interested in attending and may be able to help you find the bands. Also put a notice up in the nearest college/uni asking for bands and another one advertising it nearer the day.
You could contact lots of travelling caterers like burger stalls etc which all pay you a fee to be there and they keep the profits (assuming this is an outdoor event). Also the odd bouncy castle and a beer tent will keep people amused.
I organised a similar thing about 10 years ago.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
I used this company for a large private party but know that they also do discount for charity events
