Possible change to hours/days worked

Hi there - I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction here.
I work 4 days a week and there have been rumours that the company want to either change the days or make me go back up to 5 days a week. Neither option is great as I can't get childcare for my current day off (nursery is fully booked) so would have to look at changing nursery - something I'd like to avoid as he is very settled there. I have no family etc around that I can rely on for childcare. Plus I've had a number of health problems and really need the break from work that 4 days a week gives me.
So, my questions are:
- can they enforce a change on me? If so, how much notice do they have to give? What would happen if I refused the change? Would they be within their legal rights to dismiss me?
- would it make any difference if my 4 days a week was granted as a result of having a child (I suppose I'm thinking of the right to ask for flexible working etc after having a baby)?
I'm just trying to understand what my options are so that I'm prepared when this comes up formally.
TIA
