Fridge urgent help please

Our fridge broke down last night. We urgently need to get a new one (I don't think there's much point in trying to get it fixed as it's very old).
The problem is: it's a build in one and all the places I've called today say they don't keep those in stock but they need to be ordered and the earliest delivery I can get is Thursday. I can't be without a fridge that long especially as from tomorrow we've got people visiting us for a few days.
I can get a normal fridge straight away but don't have space to put it anywhere. So I was wondering, if we take out the build in one, can we put a normal one in there? Obviously without putting the build in cupboard door back on. So it would just slide under the worktop? I'm just a bit worried about ventilation, would this be a problem?

That should be fine. the fridge in our old house was sat in a space like that. My suggestion would be to order your built in, without worrying about delivery times, and going for your best buy, and go onto Freecycle and post an urgent want for a fridge. You can give it away again once you receive your built in.
