2 yahoo email accounts had contact list hacked?

Hi

An email was sent from my account in the early hours 2 weeks ago. It was about the time that I switched on laptop. No copy of email in sent folder. I changed password and did malwarebytes scan on laptop and pc with no infections.

Yesterday OH account had the same thing happen. Have changed password and done malwarebytes scan stilll no infections. These accounts had different password to each other to start with.

The email does not have a subject entered and the body of the emai has a link to aViag web site - I don't think there is anything nasty on the link but some people on my mailing list are actually opening this even though I have sent a email telling them not to.

Is the problem my laptop / pc/ yahoo or something else can anyone shed some light

I am down loading spybot and adaware as I already have cc cleaner and malwarebytes

Thanks for looking

This has been happening for some time to many of my friends. The first was a Hotmail account. He changed his password but after some time it happened again. He uses another email account now and just lets the first one rot. Other friends had acted similarly in that they have changed their passwords and after some time suffered again. I assume that this may mean that they are not very good at choosing passwords. When it happened to me I changed my passwords and took out all ticks that say things like, "Sign me in automatically" or "remember my password" etc.

A couple of days ago I got such spam from a friend's Yahoo site so it is becoming more widespread. It's not your laptop, or at least not only your laptop. Everybody is getting some.
It's not my fault your honour, they made me do it.
  • ...and make sure any stored "memorable words" etc to be used if you forget your password are also changed: assuming it a web based email account.
  • Move to Gmail.
All my Yahoo accounts are compromised despite having more secure passwords.
Happens with Gmail to, but seems to be much rarer.
