Which Ombudsman/Arbitrator

Hello!
I am in dispute with B&Q over "worktops" I have sent in my written complaint and have been contacted with a measly offer.

I now need to escalate the complaint to an Ombudsman or Trade arbitrator. Anyone know which one please?

There isn't one, you need to pick a figure, if they don't like it see if a small claims court will agree with you.

Small Claims Court is probably the way to go.

Send them a Letter Before Action.

There are plenty of samples around, even a link to some in this post on the READ ME FIRST thread.

    There's a Furniture Ombudsman somewhere.
A link is on that Read Me First thread I mentioned above.

No idea whether they cover worktops though.

    Thank you for your replies.

I am now going to pursue B&Q through "Small Claims" and have all my evidence ready.

I am about to write my "Letter before Action"
    Two questions please

    1. Do I address it to "Head Office", the Customer service dept that I dealt with, or both?

    2. Where will the hearing be conducted? Near to the place that I bought the goods, near to B&Q head office, or somewhere else??

    Many thanks for your time.

It's quite possible it won't get this far;)

I think when a company is involved it automatically goes to where the customer lives - but look on the courts website.

If I were you, I would send it to both.

What has happened during the missing six weeks since your last post?

I eventually prised an updated and watertight costing of the extra time involved from by fitter/builder. Amounts to just under £500.
