Timing bathroom breaks !!!

I was speaking to a friend of mine this evening and she said her boss humiliated her at work todayby sending and email around the office stating how long people had taken a bathroom break for, by compiling a list from the day before.
She said she asked him why he had done it and his reply was because it was something he will be doing everyday from now on so people can hit their targets.
My question is: Does this happen where you work or is it something what people should expect to see no matter where you work.
I did suggest going to HR but I don't know if there is anything they can do.

It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun

Not really happened anywhere I have worked but I after I left my last job someone told me (who was still there) that he was told he was spending too much time in the loo and they suggested to him he saw his doctor when he next took a days holiday to which he replied 'I can see the company doctor in company time'!! They never responded but wanted him to tell the supervisor every time he was going to the loo, like you put your hand up in school! He left the company a few months later for a better job.I was speaking to a friend of mine this evening and she said her boss humiliated her at work todayby sending and email around the office stating how long people had taken a bathroom break for, by compiling a list from the day before.

I can seriously see this leading to complaint's because surely you should be able to go to the bathroom whenever you feel the need.
If my boss ever did that to me him and I would be having a conversation with HR.It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
In many call centres it's the norm to time all activities including loo breaks, but sending round emails - seems OTT. Were they personal private emails, overall daily stats in a group email or a mass email to the office with each persons details available to be seen by other people?
If it's the 3rd option then I would definitely speak to HR as this sounds like bullying to me. If it's the first, then I think it's something that should be raised in personal reviews not by email. If it's the 2nd, then it sounds heavy handed but I wouldn't take it to seriously/personally.
Oh and if toilet break times are really influencing people abilities to reach thier tagets I'd question that the company has serious problems with it's expections from staff.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
I don't actually think you can as it's a 'rest break' in all reality. You aren't working that time.I can seriously see this leading to complaint's because surely you should be able to go to the bathroom whenever you feel the need.

is it legal to do that in a call centre? it's a basic human function, it can't be timed as such!0

From what she said it looks like it was a mass email, I did suggest she goes to HR, I hope they can help. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -

I work in I.T from home 3 times a week and office based 2 times a week so I don't have them kind of targets, but she works in a call center so perhaps this is something they have started doing I don't know. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0
