hi all, just about to make my third payment to the dmp and so far things have been running quite smoothly. (touch wood) I do have a few queries i would like to raise on the forum to see if anybody can relate or advise.! I currently get a basic wage and also work on commision, so the dmp has been set up on my basic wage and i have said i would make overpayments based on any commision made. In light of this the first 2 dmp payments have been the aranged amount due to no commision.! My main concern is, this month i have made some commision but due to the fact iam in the early stages of the dmp, i have not been able to save much money, and my car has broke down, resulting in a hefty repair bill. Should i be contacting the cccs to explain this or do i not need to worry as long as im making the agreed payment.
Thanks guys, a slightly skint this month, jonesy.

    Hi jonesy :)

Sorry to hear about your car but glad all is going well with the DMP. I don't think you need to contact CCCS, they would only need to know if you couldn't make your agreed payment due to an emergency car repair or something similar.

How are you getting on with freezing interest on your debts? CCCS have told you to do things the correct, fiar and proper way and make any extra payments to them so that they can distribute it fairly amongst your creditors. As 3 of our creditors have not frozen interest and 2 have actually increased it, we go the naughty way and pay any extra money we have against these debts.

Getting to our DFD date is our priority. We want to pay back every penny we owe but want to pay as little interest as possible so fair has flown out of the window :o

thanks again and good luck with everything.

  • Hi Jonesy1973, we're in a similar situation to you, struggling with a basic wage due to no commission. I'm in the early stages, only just cancelling DDs and posting them the initial budget letter as advised from cccs. Did you get many abusive phone calls? With regards to the commission, we've been advised that unless we have a regular commission for 3 months, then not to amend our budget as we'll just end up confusing the creditors. I'm struggling with this concept even though I can understand it.
Don't you just hate long signatures

    Hi Jonesy and all

Well done on the DMP, I totally relate with the feelings of relief, DH and I were so stressed with it all, robbing Peter to pay Paul etc... And now we are budgeting and living within our means - why the hell didn't we do this before! ;)

I am in a similar position in that I get a basic and then commission on top, I put my income as my basic plus a little on top to cover what commission I'd get on a bad month..

We are on a Self-Managed DMP at the moment, and on month 10 at the moment, in terms of freezing and lowering interest - MBNA have been amazing and offered 0% interest straight away (in fairness I think I've paid the debt back twice over with their previous extortionate charges ;)), Argos were pretty good lowered their interest considerably but at our 6mth review I did have to increase the payments we were making by £3 a month - so not horrendous, Halifax have again been pretty good lowered interest not stopped completely - but faffed around and caused us loads of grief at the beginning by giving us wrong information  but just had our 9mth review and again they are happy to keep going... the only people who I can wholeheartedly say are the biggest scummers on the earth are Shop Direct or NDR money - who have continued to charge us 40%+ interest and £12 a month charges too , they just won't accept anything less than £200 a month - which in fairness is ridiculous, as it's not one of the highest balances we have, and we pay them a pretty healthy £82 a month.

So all in all not massively bad, and we're well on our way.. Paid off about £5100 in 10mths - which is a hell of a lot better than we've ever done!!

Good luck to you, and wish you all the best for the future

    xx

Hey freebie lover and mogsie. appreciate your msgs. Spoke to cccs and you are spot on. in regards to my creditors we have had no nasty phone calls to be honest, ive actualy found them to be quite understanding. some creditors have froze interest others reduced. One thing iam enjoying is a bank account with no overdraft. Its so nice not seeing a negative figure every time I log on to my online banking. Anyway thanks again for the msgs. keep smiling and let me know if any of u's win the lotto. (100k wilk do for me) ;-)

    HI,

Dont have anything else to add but just wanted to say well done. I know that feeling of relief once everything is sorted out. I have had DPM for 10 years now and seeing a huge chunk come of my debts really helps.

hi all, just wanted to drop in with my thoughts and i suppose, see if anyone can help give me a kick up the behind after a pretty bad weekend to be honest.
I had to cancel on going to a work colleages wedding party yesterday as my bank account paints such as a very depressing picture. For the first time this year i feel like iam at the start of a very dark and long path and don't really feel as though iam able to look forward to anything.
Is this just the price i need to pay for my poor decisions in the past?
Anyway sorry if ive depressed anyone. Im off to count the copper jar to see if i can afford some diesel for work tomorrow!! HAPPY DAYS!!!

  • Hello Jonesy,
This is my 1st message on this site, Iam £8500 in debt and really struggling. I have 2 overdrafts totalling £2550, Argos Store Card £1000
and 5 Credit Cards for the rest of the total.
All iam doing is paying the minimum payments and 80% is going on interest.
    Would you recommend a DMP?
    And who with?
    Thanks For you time

If you are struggling then i would say a dmp could be a good idea for you. I would would recommend you visit the cccs website, https://www.cccs.co.uk and follow the link for the debt remedy tool. It will simply give you the best option looking closely at your circumstances.
If you do decide a dmp the cccs will help you set it up and dont charge you a penny, :j
although my last post was a bit depressing, overall i'm very happy i got in touch with the cccs. at least now my debt is heading in the right direction and some interst has been frozen, some reduced.
good luck anyway, keep me posted on your progress.

  • Thanks for your advice, I will have a look at the website now and hopefully see what they come up with.

Keep your chin up and i'm glad that your payments are going in the right direction.

    I will keep you posted.

    Thanks
