I was in asia a couple of months back and could get nearly all of the content on sky sports and movies for around equivalnat of £4 a month. Where as here we are charged rip off prices like £63 a month of sky world.

And what is the average national wage in the same country?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Because UK consumers are dumb enough to pay it?
The prices in each market are set based on what the market will bear. And here, over 10m people seem quite happy to pay for some channels that they could get for free.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

That's not the whole picture. For example, in Scandinavia (I know it's not in Asia!) where income will be similar to the UK, they paid £111m for the TV rights to premier league football compared to £1.7bn in the UK. I'd imagine that premier league football, whilst popular in Scandinavia, is not as popular as it is in the UK and therefore rights are significantly cheaper.
I'm sure that the demand for western movies isn't as high in Asia as it is in the UK because, whilst some hollywood blockbusters are popular over there, they have their own movie industries.
Getting sky channels in asia would be like adding a sky pack to sky in the uk.0 -

Sheep like consumers definitiley, the amount of (obviously) low income houses I attend with a huuuuge flat screen and Sky in pride of place, but we have no competition here either, VM have some ££ infrastructure so they cannot provide a proper price war, if they wanted to.
I would guess this market is going to be blown apart by all the new streaming options.0 -

Because fools and their money are easily parted?
Freeview or Freesat, and a Netflix or Love Film streaming for £6 a month?Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -
