What to do?

I was watching an item last night but had to put my son to bed and missed the end of the auction. The item didn't sell so I emailed the seller explaining what happened and could I buy it from him. He emailed back asking what price. It was listed at £2.99 with £2.50 P&P (P&P seemed a bit high to me anyways for a small item) so I said would £7.50 be ok? He's emailed back saying he wants £10 I know its hardly a kings randsom but I thought I was being generous anyway in offering what I did, It was a basic listing and only would only have cost them 15p. I'm just really annoyed that I missed the auction!
