Who to inform about your BR besides the creditors?

Good morning guys,
I'd like to pick your brains here please.
Is it mandatory to inform the univerisity that helps with childcare funds about my BR please? When i recently phoned to change bank details with them after i decided to close my remaining Barclays bank (Barclays moved all my debt into the active account and they wanted me to pay it first even though i'd included the debt into my BR).
Apparently,i shouldn't be changing bank accounts and its creating unnecessary burden with admin. When i told them that my reason for changing was because, the bank that i'd been with had given me 30 days to move and i'd no choice but to change bank details.
They now want to see my bank statements for the last two months from both banks (Barclays and Santander)...Santander account is a fairly new account and i dont even have any bank statements as yet.
They're stating that i shouldve informed them about my bankruptcy because it is a massive change of circumstances.???????????
I thought that the only people to inform about your BR are your creditors?unless a company like the university ask about my BR,is it mandatory to inform them please?Im very confused now. When i did the same thing with the student loan company, they told me that as long as i change bank details with them to avoid money getting lost,it does not bother them.To the student loan company, going BR changes nothing.
Your advice will greatly be appreciated.
Thanks guys.

much depends on what is in their terms and conditionsHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

My guess is others have tried to fiddle the payments by changing bank details, so the university wants to be sure nothing is amiss in your case.
Locking horns with them and using terms like 'mandatory' is unlikely to help you.
They are giving you money, they can ask what they like.
It's your choice if you want to answer the questions.
Sounds to me as if this payment is discretionary, so it's up to them whether they pay you or not.0 -

@NeverAgain,
Thanks for your response.:)
You've made valid points there,i suppose i should just keep my head down and give them what they want.I was just very surprised about their request and i wasnt sure as to why one company is not bothered about my BR and yet, another company feels the need to take it further.
Ah well,thanks again.0 -
The other thing to consider is that if it is means tested and the amount you get was based on your having to pay your debts, then of course for the University you are now better off, unless of course you have an IPA to pay which was equivalent to what you told them you were paying your debts...When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

Thanks Ineedaname
I dont have any IPA to pay and as for the amount that i have been given,it was not based on me having to pay my debt.
I think right now, what i have decided to do is just give them what they want because i have nothing to hide and to be honest, the sooner it gets sorted the better.:)0 -
