car insurance NCD problem

Hello all,
i hope someone can advise me the correct things to do on my problem. I left my previous car insurance in December 2010 and took out a new policy with another car insurer. I had to post my certificate of No claims discounts which i requested from my previous insurer.
When it arrived it said 3 instead of 7! i rang them up and they said it maybe do with my non-fault accident (which was settled in Dec 2010 and the other party admitted all blame and i got a settlement amount), and advised me to speak to the underwriter.
I am so confused how my NCD have been taken away is this a error on their behalf OR now that its settled will it update itself on their records and i get my 7 years back???:(:(

As long as it is settled (ie they've got 100% of their outlay back) then they should reinstate your NCD. Unfortunately just because the TPI admit liability doesnt end or settle the case and it can be months (or years) later that all monies are agreed, paid and the claim closed as non fault0

So basically it affect my insurance in the meantime? and i have to pay for high premium car insurance?0

Depends on the insurer, the traditional situation would be but then once its sorted any overpayment is refunded. Normally it will happen automatically if you stay with the same company but can still work if you switch insurers, just more leg work.0

Dont accept anything that says, full and final settlement, keep a log of all losses incurred by this rtc and send the other driver the bill.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
