Why???
Im offering to pay cash on pick up for an item worth around £50 but the seller (who is zero rated with no history) has said he will only take cheque or paypal!
Am I missing something here???

he/she may not want personal callers to pick item up....
do they offer collection on the listing....0 -
Yeah the pick up seems a problem to me. Some sellers put their costs and extra profit into the p and p, which you would obviously not want to pay if you picked it up.
Maybe offer to pay everything and meet in a neutral place? There is no need to run outside

Is he worried about forged notes perhaps or you paying cash and then saying you never received the item?? Maybe if you offered to sign a receipt saying you had received the item (and vice versa he signs a receipt for you to say he received cash) - might helpIf you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!0

Seller's a newbie, and not versed in the knowledge of paypal.
If he carries on accepting paypal for collection items, he's going to get stung. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0
