Bankruptcy and accommodation...quick question...

I have just been given notice in my present accommodation (a mobile home) as my landlords do not have planning permission for me to live here - as I have 4 dogs, the place I have found to rent is a 2-bed detached bungalow (I live on my own, no partner, no kids).

If I were to go bankrupt, would the OR accept this as reasonable accommodation or would they insist that I found somewhere smaller?

My dad is guarantor for the tenancy anyway, so as far as I can see the only problem I would have if I went bankrupt would be that I couldnt have utility bills in my name? Presumably I can keep my existing BT/O2 accounts? My car is only worth around £850, my horse is worth nothing as he is lame :o and he is on grass livery which is the cheapest I can find...is there anything else I havent considered?

Oh and I dont work in a restricted job or anything like that...

yeah that shoudn't be a problem at all,as long as it was a reasonable rent for the wage you earn and also around the average rent for the area,no problem having bills in your name either, the phone may ask for a deposit if you were having a new line put in.

Do you need the car to get to work? If not, it may be that the OR doesn't allow you the running costs of the car.

The OR may compare the rent you are paying with the rent for a smaller property if the difference was great.

they won't 'insist'....but they may reduce the amount allowed for rent on your SOA.

I had a 3 bed house rented...and live on my own..but my young son spends pretty much most of his time living here...and the OR needs to take that sort of thing into account...

Do you think the rent for your home is about average for a two-bed bungalow in your area? Seems to me a reasonable size of property for a single person to live in?
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

Yes the rent is definitely average for the type of property around here, it is lower than similar bungalows in the village due to it's location (just next to a petrol station!!)

I definitely need the car to get to work (10 mile journey from where I will be living), and there is already a BT line in so I will be transferring my existing phone package to the new rented property.

This seems to good to be true - please tell me what I have forgotten/not realised about lol!!! I never want to be able to get credit again, so that is not a problem :)
