when can i go on our mortgage?

Hi all i went bankrupt in December 2010 and automatically discharged 1 year later. i will be starting my credit file clean up in march but have already been approved for a couple of small inexpensive (thanks to quidco!) payday loans and a couple of catalogs (with which i bought a couple of dresses for a friend and then returned anyway!) so i am hopeful that my credit history is going the right way. anyway our mortgage (for the house myself and my partner live in) is mortgaged in my partner's and his brothers name but his brother just did it to help us out and as a bit of an investment. i pay half the mortgage with my partner. we want to do a transfer of equity at some point to put his brother's half of the mortgage into my name. how soon could we look at doing this and we're currently with the Halifax for the mortgage, what are they like with ex bankrupts? Thanks all!

I would wait until your BR drops off your credit files, so 6 years from your BR date.

I concur. While the BR is on your file any joint finances you have will mean your OH is affected by your BR by being linked to you on your credit files.

ah ok good to know, i did think that too. such a pain as we were hoping to do it in a couple of years time which will be 3-4 years after BR :( maybe we'll have to find another way to get his brother's name off the mortgage - like put it in my partner's name only if he earns enough or put it in his and his mum's name or something for a couple more years and then put it in my name after that !
