Now Bankrupt, what to do about NRAM

We were made bankrupt yesterday, and today i was going to start phoning up and setting up all the direct debits onto our new co-op cash minder account.
But what about NRAM! Part of our mortgage payment is made up of an unsecured loan, so do i just set up the direct debit as normal, trusting that they will take the correct amount (mortgage payment WITHOUT the loan part)
Until the OR writes to them, they won't know I'm bankrupt and the mortgage payment will come out on the 1st of feb.

They won't change anything unless they clearly understand that the unsecured loan is part of your bankruptcy. They won't know that until the OR tells them, even then they may need promoting to alter the direct debit.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. We had 15k wiped off as we had a unsecured loan..it will stay on your file with them for ages..we went BR 09/2010 and the computer still shows as it outstanding..until i explain and they end up £opps oh yes my mistake":D
Just pay the secured amount and job done.0 -
Not sure if this helps, but after my BR (and presumably after OR had contacted NRAM), they only asked for the secured amount (not the "together" element) in their letters about arrears/repayments. (I wasn't paying anything as both parts were included in my BR and I moved out).
Perhaps you could just ring up and pay by debit card until you know OR has informed them. However, I believe they can apportion what you pay (if less than the expected amount) to both parts of the loan so you need to be clear you want it apportioned to the secured part.
Good luck.0 -
I phoned them up, but didn't tell them i was bankrupt (was quite scared to).
I just asked for their account details as i wanted to pay by standing order, and then asked how much a month the secured element of my mortgage was a month (£975).
So just set up a standing order for that amount.0
