Overdraft Taken Away From Under Me!!!!!

Would really appreciate some advice,

I have an advantage gold account with Natwest and also have a 1800 overdraft which i'm very ashamed to say i'm always up to the limit on.

About 6 days ago i asked my premium manager if it could be extended to 1900 as i'd had an unexpected bill was left a bit short. He said this would be fine and that he'd sort it. A few days later it was still not showing up so i called him yesterday and he said it would be on the system by today 09/02/07.

It was still not on there at 1600 hrs so i tried to get hold of him but he was unavailable and it was now actually showing that i had no overdraft at all. About half hour later i had a call from some lady saying that my overdraft had now expired and that the overdraft needed to be settled and that she would call me back on Monday to sort something out, a review i think she said.

Obviously this is going to ruin me come my payday when the bank will totally gobble up my wages on the 20th. Is there any advice someone could give me as i'm really panicking now.

  • I would ring the manager again as banks dont usually ring you to sort stuff out, it sounds like a scam to me, go into the bank dont give any of your details out over the phone, a bank has all your details in front of them they would not sort it out on the phone, please dont give any info out on the phone.

I dont think it is a scam.

The bank is totally within their rights to ask for your overdraft to be repayed at any time, and withdraw the facility without notice. This request might have flagged with the bank that you were in financial difficulty and to safeguard their assets they have decided they do not want to lend to you any longer. I suggest you visit a branch to discuss this.

If you are close to your limit all the time, why do you pay for your current account. Do the savings in the overdraft make it worthwhile?

Hi there, this can happen unfortunately, probably because your o/d was marked for a term as opposed to a permanent one. What should have happened was your Premium Mgr should have rung you (or his assistant) to let you know it was expiring and to conduct a review to confirm that the o/d was still appropriate. Get straight on to your PMgr on Monday & discuss this, chances are this is just an oversight.

Any problems please post again & I'll try to help

Banks ring all the time to sort things out on the phone.
If someone is unsure, they should ring the bank back to satisfy themselves, but it will cost them to do so in most cases.
Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.

    Right!
In this case, it must be a really a dunce of a crook, who’d select an account without available money and heavily in debt?
What assets can there be gotten out of that account? :D:D:D

How on earth can that be a scam? Banks do phone to discuss such things, Lloyd's TSB certainly do and i know for a fact Nat west phoned me when i banked with them.:confused: I can assure you that you are incorrect here, go and check with your own bank before trying to frighten someone.
