There is a pub with a green sign with a trumpet on it right near the church at the back of the old square. This is probably the best, cheapest place near the center.

I have always found some great, cheap food near my hotel, normally a couple of metro stops from the city eg there was a lovely place round the corner from the hotel denisa on Narodni Orbrany

There are some nice places near the center, but they very pricey. Also be aware that some of them dont take credit cards, so make sure you have some cash handy.

Wish I was goign too, I miss their beer! Why can't I get pilsner urquell in English pubs? I could get it in cape town!

  • THIS place is really good and very reasonable for both food and drink. At which hotel are you staying?

Great! That's literally a couple of minutes away from our hotel. Looks good - we will definitely give this one a whirl too.

I have no idea why Czech beer is not more widely available in the UK as it's the best in the world. I think we Brits are set in our ways when it comes to our favoured brands of beer.

Bohemia Bagel (forgotten where it is, there are 2 branches in the centre)
  • if you've got rough guide or lonely planet their recommendations for where to eat were pretty good for prague
  • Yeah I have Rough Guide. I just wanted some recommendations from 'real' people...suspicious aren't I? :rotfl:

4 years ago we got our cheapest drink at half time in the opera! 50p for glass of champagne overlooking city.
be prepared for lots of pork but its excellent. if you re really into beer and pubs head accross the main bridge and up the steps to the government building area( away from wencelas square etc). here you will find some great little bars where the locals go

    have fun
  • Thanks. I want to cram as much into 5 days as possible.

Copius amounts of pork and beer sounds great :D
