Cancelling an upgrade?

I finally got my contract updated with Vodafone this evening, after calling to get my PAC, I have actually taken out a new contract else where this afternoon, but since they were matching it, I figured it would be easier just to say with them and return the new contract.
So everything was sorted and delivery was all set for Thursday then half an hour later I get a text saying my 'order has been delayed and won't be delivered as planned' and I'll get another text with a new delivery date
Think this may be the straw that has broken the camels back after days of going backwards and forwards, so what I'm wondering is do I still have the right to cancel the upgrade? Or am I stuck with it now? Really appreciate any advice on this matter, thanks in advance

yes - I cancelled my upgrade with O2 as I had 14 days to cancel0

No cooling off period on upgrades unless the retailer specifically offers one in their T&C's. O2 may offer it, not sure about Voda.
Can you still cancel the other contract? Only if the DSR appliy. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Hmm nothing was mentioned about cancelling it within a certain period while on the phone. I'm currently on hold trying to find out why it's been delayed.
I know I can def cancel the other contract, I made sure of that before ordering as it's on T Mobile and I have no experience of them....those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

This is exactly what Vodafone did with me two weeks ago - I requested PAC code, they then matched what O2 were offering so I upgraded, they confirmed delivery for the next day. Ten minutes later also get a text saying phone delivery delayed.
To answer your question they told me that you can cancel and return the phone within 7 working days. You need to check this with them, if you can actually get to speak to someone, it can take a while to get through I know. I kept the phone and am regretting it, the customer service, phone reception and online billing system are appalling now. Have been with them for years and they used to be good but no longer.0 -
Ok so finally got through, my order will be delivered when they said it will, the guy didn't know why I had got that text message *sigh*
So while I had him on the phone, I asked if the cooling off period still applied to upgrades and he confirmed I would still have 7 days from when I recieve it, so that's good to know.
Now the next dilema is which one too keep. The other deal is better as it involves cashback and a gift card, but on an unknown network to me (T Mobile) Or stick with Vodafone and know where I'm at and that it works well. Ah, why are things never simple?!...those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

Nice to know I'm not the only one *rolls eyes*
The more I see and read the more I think I don't want to stay with them any longer, and I've been a customer of the best part of 10 years. Thanks for your reply...those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

How is the reception for T Mobile for your area? We used T Mobile in the past and the reception was poor, hence sticking with Vodafone. May have improved now though.0

That's my worry you see!
According to the coverage checker on the T Mobile website it's 'Very Good' in all areas, calls, 3G etc. So I'm thinking surely it should be ok, I'm in the centre of Inverness so not exactly out in the wilderness, plus they are with Orange as well now, so I really do think that it would be ok, I just don't want to end up stuck in a 24 month contract with rubbish signal.
If anyone has the answer I would very much appreciate it :rotfl:...those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

Just don't spend any time at the Drumossie Hotel (lousy coverage at the new year). Avoid a contract at all times - PAYG on 30-day lock in on a SIM only contract means you can get out when YOU want.0

It's not somewhere I spend a lot of time lol
The phone arrived today looks great, and the reception so far has been fine, been using it to browse the internet and things and no problems, so think I'll be saying cheerio to Vodafone!...those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.
