HELP pls! Ebay asked me to register as business account but I'm not a business!

  • I have just had a message come up saying I was approaching my limit of items I could sell on ebay. I called them up and apparently EVERYONE has a limit of 21 items in the clothing & accessories category. I am absolutely gobsmacked - 21 items when you're clearing out your wardrobe is really not very much at all. They said there's nothing they can do as this limit is applicable to everyone. It's really insane - is there no alternative to selling on ebay?
  • Goodadvice...it is highly unlikely that someone has reported you for being a business. It is more likely to be that you have used more than one account to get around restrictions that are in place for a reason.
It is only 100 free listings that are restricted.

Not if you actually want to sell anything, no.

eBay have other factors to consider, like buyer safety from loads of counterfeits and so on, it's nothing personal. I think they consider private sellers unlikely to need to sell more than a set amount a month; whether you want to or not doesn't count. Unfortunately the people who abuse the system are spoiling it for the decent people, but eBay does still get the traffic because it takes buyer protection seriously - so what they consider fair has to be taken into account as well.
