Buying Furniture!

My Mum is moving into a new house in 2 weeks and we wanted to buy her some new furniture as she has not moved for 30 years and she would love to leave some of her old stuff behind.
We settled on a living room set from this range http://www.furnishinghomes.co.uk/advanced_search_result.html?keywords=aston and that is where the trouble started!
My own fault entirely for not looking and ordering sooner but every retailer that sells this range (and there is a lot!!) reckons between 4 and 8 weeks to get it delivered.
It took us long enough to decide on the furniture and now looks like it will be far too late for her so we will have to pick something else.
Why oh why does it take so long to get furniture delivered, not bespoke, not customised and seemingly mass produced.
Oh well, thanks for reading.

So much furniture now is produced & imported from abroad, unfortunately. From what you hear, sometimes delays occur because suppliers wait to have a certain amount of orders to fill a container for shipping, as it is more cost effective. So it's possible this is what is happening here. It is hard but not impossible to track down British made furniture, though this tends to be in the higher price bracket for the most part, as much of it is traditionally made & built to last.
I know you want her to have the items as soon as she moves in, but I'm sure she wouldn't mind waiting. I know I wouldn't if I was lucky enough to have a child wanting to buy me new furniture as a new home gift! (My angel is in heaven :A)The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
