I would not cancel it - I just purcahsed a new phone from E2Save and saw that it came with free Identity Protection from Experian.

Went to Experian website and saw that its worth over £80 quid.

I now get to look at my credit report whenever and also get alerts when anyone looks at my credit history which is cool as I have lots of online credit card and banking stuff..:j

REckon its fair value - get tech support and id protection service.. marting would luv it...:)

Stupidly i did not look at what i was getting with my new E2save mobile...which i bought recently
I was automatically opted into TECH Support from gadget helpline.com, and called to cancel but now I was told that the scheme INCLUDES Experian Id protection in the £4.95 per month bundle. Its well wrth it as ID protection is £80 PA alone and you get gadget support from these guys in the bundle.

    I have not cancelled.:money:

As long as YOU feel you are getting value for money, fine. But £80 for ID 'protection' is a charge I feel is unwarranted and preys on those who do not have the ability to look after their own affairs. It doesn;t help, of course, when your DoB is requested for the most miundane of transactions, never mind banking and the rest. Having realised this, I have always randomized my DoB and have done so for the last 30 years, I've never had anything to worry about - and, it appears, saved £80pa in the process.
  • Yes but i like being alerted by the service when someone checks my credit..For example i applied for car insurance on confused recently and the company immediately accessed my report..at least \i knew..how do you get that for free?
  • PS that was also my point..i got this for £50 per annum WITH full tech support for my household

Your report is held by three different private firms. What if one of the other firms were consulted? Even if they reported all, what good does it do you? You would have already been told in the insurance application trhat they would check, and they did - so it hardly came as a surprise.

If there was a fraudulent issue, then you would be protected anyway.
  • I purchased a phone also and got the ID protect thing in my deal somehow.

Got an alert when people took a look at my credit file for a flat rent recently which was cool

I was not sure I needed it but now I feel that someone is watching my back and like it and for less than a fiver with tech support too.

I do my banking, shopping and credit card on-line so like having it.

Agree that £80 alone is too much - but this came less.:money:

I find it strange that the lenders want the customers to pay for the lenders protection :)
