OK....this maybe some internal acronym at the Co-op Bank but what on earth do they mean by this....
"If we are unable to send a Faster Payment we will notify you by smeg"
I came across this in the standing order area of online banking. Now, either someone in their IT department is a fan of Red Dwarf and is having a little joke here or this is very poorly thought out acronym for some kind of messaging system they have!!

I'd go with 'secure message', but they don't offer that facility!0

It is secure message. Years ago, I asked them for a Data Subject Access Request, and as part of that they give you copies of the customer notepad (where they put notes about conversations etc). They use lots of acronyms such as SMEG and CTI (Customer Telephoned In) etc.
Secure Message is Smile functionality though, not available in the Co-op site from what I understand so I'm stumped how they would smegging send you one though.43580 -
I work at the Co-op Bank on the programme implementing a new banking platform. The software manufacturer loves its 3-letter acronymns, many of which defy logic in attempting a 'translation'. Like "SOL" (Service Outlet - branch to you and me).Ethical moneysaver0

Eeewwww!!! Not sure I want to be notified of ANYTHING by smeg!
Not a very constructive answer - but, seriously, are you telling me that somebody in Head Office went "Hang on a minute....that's an awesome acronym! What could possibly go wrong...?"April 2006 - owed just over £30k (the evils of relationship breakup!)
December 2011 - owe just under £3.5k!!!
February 2012 - owe just under £1900 (keep the overtime coming!)
May 2012 - owe £600...0 -

Hi,
Does this mean we are going to have a new platform soon? We could do with something a bit more modern!0 -
