hi there,
i have a 9 year old, aluminium framed, double glazed patio door in my lounge, through which i suspect i loose a lot of heat in the winter.
could anyone in the know advise me if i would gain much benefit from a new better quality unit? i'm sure there are good and bad quality units??? should i be thinking of a triple glazed unit?? what sort of premium should i expect to pay for triple glazed?? do all doors/windows come with a u value to make my choice easier??
any links to good resources for doors/window info would be appreciated.
thanks in advance.

You won't gain a lot from a triple glazed unit. You will gain from a new double glazed unit using some type of low-e glass and/or argon filling. You will gain even more by replacing the whole lot with either a UPVC or timber door. Contact a glazier for advice and costs.0

to be honest, will changing the door make a difference? is there any way of replacing the door seals so that the door is tighter when shut?
do you have cavity walls? do they have insulation in them? the point im making is that even if you have a quadruple glazed with all the trimmings, you will only lose slightly less then a double glazed, the rest of the heat will go out through air gaps, uninsulated walls/roofs etc!Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0
