Android App - Money Toolkit

Hi Folks,

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere. I bank with Smile and have recently started to use an App called Money Toolkit. It is available for Android and iPhone. It provides access to your bank balances, and allows a drill down to transactions in each account. I find it fantastic and the first mobile app that works 100% successfully. I have tried many...

I have to admit I am worried as I had to input security details in order for this App to work, even though there is no functionality to move money within the App.

I called Smile to enquire and their reply was 'it must be OK as there have been no reports refering to it as malicious or spyware' - not very reassuring!! Does or has anyone else used this App.

I would be very interested to know if there are other users and their thoughts and experiences.

I'd stay away from anything that isn't a official app from your bank..

I'd also be inclined to stay away from unofficial apps - you never know what kind of information is being fed back to the creator of the app.

According to The Co-Operative Bank's twitter feed, they'll be launching a banking app early this year, so hopefully it won't be too long til we get an official solution!

I've never use any finance application which didn't came directly from my banks website, or, in the case of smartphones, came with a digital certificate to say it came from my bank and has not been tampered with since.

The only ones I'd be prepared to use are those that give more generic information: Bank locations, ATM locations, etc.

Then again, unless its an emergency, I wouldn't use such applications anyway. I'd just make a note on my todo list and do whatever I needed when I got back home (or work).

I tried it for a while, but most banks are finally producing their own android apps, and prefer to stay with those. I uninstalled it, then changed my security details.

Hello, I just got an email from the Co-op to say an app is launched (7 Dec 2012) I'm not a fan of checking my finances out in the wild, so won't be using it.:(
