Laminate Vs.Real Wood

Hi.We are going to fit wooden flooring in our living room and dining room shortly.
I have one question please...We have a little dog who loves to run around the house from time to time and i was wondering which would be the best type of flooring to get.
Laminate or real wood?
Cost isnt really an issue,but were wondering how the 2 would stand up to little claws running around and maybe scratching the surface or maybe chipping it.
Any ideas please?

As far as I'm aware, laminate withstands pets pretty well. You're in more danger of a dog sliding into things and knocking over tables
