  • www.citibank.co.uk give you accounts without hardly any hassle, you have to send a £1 cheque but to get around this add some other form of ID and write a letter saying you dont have a cheque book, that should do, forms of ID are photo copy of passport, or driving licence, a bill from your address, e.g. bt bill gas/electric bill, water bill, council tax bill, tax form with your details on, bank statement, you only have to send 3 forms of ID, hope this helps. and go through quidco to get £50 cashback but I dont know if this will work anymore as they are rebranding there accounts.

Have you considered a 'Basic Bank' account?

    Have a look at http://www.fsa.gov.uk/consumer/pdfs/bank_account.pdf

If you have had a prior account, don't even think about withholding that information if asked. It would be fraud.
  • you had me fooled there, thought you'd never had a bank account, did'nt realise you just wanted to know how to de-fraud a bank, thats not why we are hear, we are here to help people moneysave in an honest way.

    New Citibank Plus/Access Current Account:

"Simple isn’t a word you’d usually associate with a bank account. But that’s exactly what makes the Citibank Plus/Access Current Account different.

It’s easy to manage and offers a competitive interest rate, with no catches and no strings attached. All of which makes it easy to earn money too. Simple.

    Easy to manage:

Dealing with your bank shouldn’t be difficult, but it often is. Whenever possible, we’ll take the hassle out of managing your money, whether that’s by transferring your standing orders for you or just by offering an efficient, personal service.

    Simply the best:

Not only do we offer one of the best current account interest rates in the market, but our rate is better than many savings accounts too.

    Just an everyday thing:

You earn the same great rate on any balance you have in your account, whether it’s £1 or £100,000. As interest is calculated daily, you can be sure that you’re earning something every day.

Your terms and conditions, not ours:

You manage the account on your terms, not ours. We’re not looking for any commitment from you upfront - there’s no minimum deposit required and you don’t need to give us your salary every month.

    Your choice:

You can use our Citibank Online service to access your account. Or, if you’d prefer, you can speak to one of our personal bankers, who are available 24 hours a day and have got the authority to get things done for you.

You’ll also receive a VISA debit card, enabling you to make purchases and to withdraw money from over 44,000 LINK cash machines in the UK and over 840,000 VISA and LINK ATMs worldwide".

Both the citi plus and access accounts are current accounts the difference is that the plus account give some more benefits but charge a fee of £10/month and the access account dont give those extra benefits but dont charge a fee either.
So its upto each individual, i.e. if you want those extra benefits then keep the plus account (sterling current account at the moment but will be changed to the plus account on 1st April) and if you dont want those extra benefits its best to shift to the access account so that you dont have to pay the monthly fee of £10.
