I received an email to say item had been damaged in the post, first line of complaint is an underlying threat about feedback - totally unnecessary. Okay so this will inconvenience the buyer but I always offer a refund straight away with any complaint. Its not as if I battered the item and posted it, Royal Mail did that for me. Why are people so keen to be argumentative at the first point of contact? Okay rant over.:o

Don't be too offended.
People often remember past bad experiences (of all forms of buying, not just ebay) and assume the worst.
Thus they plan what they will do if the seller is obstinate, get carried away and start making unnecessary threats.
It doesn't mean they'll be unreasonable when they see that you're doing the right thing.0 -
I hope not, I'm trying hard to be nice, I would have probably said keep the item and have a refund but they were really on the attack. Hopefully they'll calm down and accept the offer of return and refund, I've said I'll refund return postage. Not much more I can do, I just feel a bit down when a buyer isn't happy.0

You'll probably find the buyer has had previous dealings with one of those sellers who either just shrugs their shoulders and says 'tough luck' or expects them to wait weeks and jump through hoops before they refund. The fact that you are a reasonable seller probably never occured to him as he was expecting a fight.
On ebay, possibly more so than anywhere else, people expect to have problems, it probably never occured to him that you would be so reasonable.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
