Paypal refund dilemma !

I refunded a payment for a missing item through paypal.
A refund for a christmas item and the payment hasnt been claimed.
I contacted the buyer early january and she said she was having trouble logging in to paypal.
A month later and she still hasnt claimed it...and doesnt seem in much of a rush to do anything about it.
I lost out on this item...my own fault...I lost my receipt of posting so I cant claim.
I feel aggrieved that my cash is waiting there doing nothing, probably gonna go to paypal eventually.
Most peeps will say leave it there, but I feel I should reclaim the cash back and wait for the buyer to sort out her paypal account first.
If she cant be @rsed, then I'll get the cash for the missing item. If she does sort paypal out, I can refund the money to her again.
I want closure on this, I dont want to be constantly thinking about this dozy woman not sorting her account out and forever wondering if she has claimed it.
And I dont want paypal to end up with it either.
What would you do ?
Tom

You refunded the money, so it is no longer yours, so you have your closure right there. :) What happens to it next is not your concern. Think of it this way, if the refund was processed and she just left that money in her account, would you be so agrieved?

ETA: Just been looking at PayPal help and although I can't find anything about unclaimed refunds, it does say that payments that aren't claimed are returned to the sender after 30 days, so you might be in luck if that policy applies to refunds. :)

Did you refund it properly.. or just send a payment?

She's not really to blame if it wasn't a refund.
