Cavity wall insulation

I am about to buy a house and thought it might be a good idea to install cavity wall insulation to save money on heating and to help future resale (if and when the home information packs are made compulsory and environmantal factors are taken into consideration). However, the house in question is an extended detached house which has no access to the sides of the building as the extension has left probably less than a foot gap between the neighbouring houses. Can cavity wall insulation still be done or will it be impossible?
