Probably in preparation for the changes due 1st January, where all payments should arrive by the end of the next working day.

For me its never gone by faster payment, although since the Lloyds system integration, when I now pay my credit card, it doesn't leave my account when I initiate the payment, it leaves my account the next working day, which is annoying.

It was pretty quick though under the old HBoS system. From memory the payment left my Halifax account immediately and arrived the next day on my Halifax credit card backdated to the previous day...in effect, a faster payment.
  • I think my Halifax card is the only one I have that doesn't take Faster Payments.

Tesco and HSBC always seems to update within two hours after I send a payment, Barclaycard the next day. I suppose as it's always been the case for me I'm not too bothered about it, but I can understand that it would be really annoying if it's a service they're taking away.

When I transfer monies into my Lloyds or halifax, it is across as soon as I press the button.

Sorry, I meant my Halifax credit card. I don't have a current account with either of those companies at the moment.

Yep, you are right, but now it doesn't even go the same day. I sent a payment on Friday to my cc, and its still sitting in my current account. Hope it gets better come January when the new fp rules kick in
