Paying back Student overdraft issue

I am paying back a student overdraft account even though it was some
ten years ago I went to University as a mature student. I am currently
in receipt of disability living allowance for the past few years as I suffer
with post traumatic stress disorder.

Having attempted to speak to bank branch managers about the fact that I am on benefits, and cannot afford to keep repaying these monthly loan repayment charges, they simply state that I have to by law. Surely, if I were in full time work or something, I could justify paying this old student overdraft loan each month, yet they do not take into account customers' financial circumstances.

I have so far paid £600 of a £2,500 overdraft, yet am not paying any more as cannot afford to. They still charge a £26 per month Interest fee and will do for some time unless I get an increase in benefits to pay back more of the loan.

Is there something I can do to get them to stop charging this Interest each month? - I know they won't freeze it as have already tried that option with them and they are very inflexible and unfriendly about the whole thing.

Many thanks in advance for all advice given.
