Nearly all pressies bought here, mainly online through companies I trust and have used loads before. We went on a weekend break to Chester a few weeks back and I got some lovely things there. The xmas madness hadn't started so it was really pleasant. Part of the fun of xmas for me is thinking up lovely gift ideas for people I love. I just want to get a couple more dvds, hurry up David Attenborough and release that 'Frozen Planet' dvd, a perfect gift for my dad. Want to buy a couple of albums for people and then that is it.

Im lucky in as much as I am a few stops on the underground from the West End so dont have the nightmare of trying to park etc. I love window shopping at this time of year and seeing all the beautiful shop displays. My friend works in Hamleys and she adores this time of year. She is going to come in very handy for recommending the best toys in the years to come, and getting a staff discount rate ;).

Congrats bumpmakesfour. I am expecting twin girls on Jan 4, our due dates must be close. I have a feeling they may arrive a bit early. Not sure how much bigger I can possibly get :D. Did anyone else feel a bit odd about going on maternity leave? Feels like the end of one phase of my life, which I have loved, and the start of a brand new phase. I am excited but a bit apprehensive at the same time.

Hope you all have a really lovely xmas, what a great thread this is.
  • Just to clarify, I'm a working uni student with no children, so luckily I don't have to go to that expense! The only person I have left is my other half... Not looking forward to that one, I can assure you. He doesn't seem to need or want anything.

How is everyone else getting along? I bought nearly all of mines online, it is much easier! And to be pretty fair - I don't feel as though i've spent TOO much. Although the bank may phone me wondering why my card is being used so much as I rarely use it.

I'm getting very excited for the big day now. Can't wait to see all of my family and friends :j

What do you lot think of Christmas shopping and Christmas? Yaaaay it's lots of fun! Or are you simply a BAH-HUMBUG.

And finally, to keep this post MSE friendly :money:...
Have you any tips to keep things cheap yet cheerful over the season?

    Well done you.

I am a full time working mum to a 3 year old and 23 weeks pregnant with second. We have my OH's DD every other weekend from friday to sunday night and I am at college twice a week too, I too have done all mine, wrapped and tagged ready for the big day :)))

I haven't spent too much, been very good and organised this year and so very porud of myself.

Did they offeryou any form of compensation? Was that the snow?

I have never had a problem with amazon, guess it must have been the snow..

As I understand it, the snow held up deliveries and then when it started to clear the RM delivered the newer parcels and left the backlog in warehouses. Presumably because it was better just having those delayed rather than delaying everything by trying to clear the backlog. I know lots of people who ordered the same week as me had the same problem whereas people who ordered the week later got their parcels as normal. It's not Amazon's fault. I just had to return everything when it eventually came. One DVD was despatched on the 5th December and turned up mid-January!

I often take a couple of days off work in very early December to get all my Xmas shopping finished, but I don't need to do that this year, I'm pretty sure within the next couple of weekends it'll be finished. I start in January, in the Claires/Disney store/etc sales. I have 3 pre-teen girls to buy for, and I enjoy that bit :D.

I'm completely stuck for something to get my Mum, I always am. Hopefully something will jump out and scream "buy me I'm perfect" shortly :rotfl:. Thank goodness she is the only adult I buy for these days (apart from OH, but he just gets stocking fillers).

Love decorating the tree, hate writing christmas cards, it always seems like such a chore.

Well I've bought nothing yet, not one sausage. I'll be 7 and a half months pregnant come Christmas  I'm thinking gift vouchers for everyone (I wish I was joking) Only thing I've done is ordered all my "special" cards from Hallmark and they will be posted for me soon.

This humbug's all done too, the only thing I have to do is post the neighbours cards through the doors. I try my best to ignore Christmas but I've had to get a move on this year as I'm off to Mexico next week :j & wont return until Christmas Eve. I so will not miss the build up :D

I'm normally organised to be honest, was planning on going out today to get some bits but realised all those who should be at picket lines will probably be out doing some Christmas shopping, so it'l be heaving here. May do some online, the weather isn't bad here yet, so hoping I get it

We're taking our 1 year old to Thomas land the week before christmas for his main present and we've got him a few toys (grandparents will spoil him). Dad wants money, got my mum a lovely hand carved giant seahorse (dont ask), grandma a new radio, brother something for his Xbox and bought myself a new punching bag for my garage!

Also got 3 packs of 20 next christmas cards for £1. RRP £3 per pack! they're last years designs but who notices that??!!
