Hi all thanks for your advice
Phone- we are with BT and since yesterday will only be paying them line rental, have joined mother in laws 18866 thingy and calls are 0p a minute!!!!
Phoned Sky last night and is getting turned off on the 17th...so will be bored but suppose i can read and walk my dogs a bit more!!
My total insurances amount does cover Life, buildings and contents and my pets. As for paying into a savings account, I would be worried about 2 things, not having enough in it to cover an emergency, or using the money for other things.
I have quite a good deal on my pet insurance, i get 25% for insuring 3 or more pets. Its also lifetime cover so doesn't run out at the end of each year.
My prescriptions involve 3 sets of tablets and a cream for me, 1 set of tablets and eye drops for my husband, the pre paid certificate doesnt really figure out much cheaper, but am looking into asking my doc for a 6 month supply of my tablets to save gettin a new prescription each month. don't know what she'll say though because they are anti depressants and she doesn't like to give me too many at once.
as for the shopping budget, i really don't know what to say, we really our trrying to cut it down we dont buy treats and i tend to always make enough to freeze and do us for a few nights, something like pasta or stew, but it is hard to get a cheap shop with my food allergies.
Haven't started the CCCS Low Start Plan yet, am waiting for some info in the post sent by National Debtline which details all of our options, however I hope to be able to send £10 per month to each creditor for the time being and haven't written to all of them to explain my leaving work and that a payment plan is in the offing, haven't had any replies as yet.
we are getting the house valued on tuesday, there are some properties to rent in my town for around £300pm this is £90 a month less than my mortgage, plus we could cancel our life (for the time being) and buildings and contents insurance, thus saving another £55 per month. I think this is the best idea but as I said before, hubby doesn't want to give up our house. But I think we got a mortgage really young (20 and 22) and most ppl rent for a lot longer, so selling our house wouldn't really set us back that far.
i'm also starting to feel like a useless piece of £$&! because i can't go out and get a job, at least not a full time one, and i know this situation would be greatly improved if i could. so blaming myself for a lot of this mess.

Hi there,
Sounds like you're moving in the right direction? If you're going to miss Sky perhaps get a Freeview box if you can get the signal? It's just a one of payment of about £50-60 for the box and that's it.
I know what you mean about the shopping budget, but like you, I cannot see many ways of reduing mine by any great amount.
What is the deal with the CCCS Low Start Plan? What is this? How will this help? This might help me.
And 18866?

hi there
i live in a small town in northern ireland we're lucky to get bbc here never mind freeview, other wise would be doing that!!
as for the low start payment plan, i don't know the ins and outs of it just yet but basically its just something the lady from National Debtline told me about.
Its a payment plan like the others where you pay CCCS a set amount per month and they give it out to your creditors, you have to be able to pay £5 per month to each creditor.
if you ring CCCS on 0800 138 1111 or go to their website https://www.cccs.co.uk
and ask them about Low Start Payment Plans.
Good luck, lets keep each other posted!0 -
sorry 18866 is a prefix code you dial to get either 0p or 1p a minute phone calls, but you have to sign up to it i don't know how cos i did it thru my mother in law however they r big fans of it on here and if you go to the telephones board they'll tell you how to do it0

My parents live in a small town in Kent and cannot get the signal either (well they we tried my box and they got a few but none of the BBC channels), so I know the problem, tsch.
Thanks for the info. I think I'll be headng over to 18866 and perhaps I could get off my mobile phone tariff of £33 per month and get a PAYG contract.
Will keep looking at this forum (have you read my BIG new thread? :0))

Chantilly Bex, can you please try and post all your messages in one thread. This is becoming very disjointed as you have about 4 different threads running now, but all on the same subject. It makes keeping track of your situation more difficult for us.He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0
