Removing paint from tiles and where to find aluminium type splashback

I've only been in our house 3 months. The kitchen tiles have been painted over and in parts, the paint is peeling away (think it was just ordinary emulsion paint). What the best way to get this paint off as there seems to be nice white tiles underneath?
Also I want a splashback screwed on above the hob like a chrome/aluminum style. Where can I buy this?
Thanks

look in your yellow pages under stainless steel & find a likely industrial supplier.
Phone them, have a bit of chat, & then ask them if they have any suitable scrap or offcut pieces of stainless steel sheet in your size.
generally £10 - £20 cash in hand, rather than £70-£80
Worked for me 3 times now.0 -
The best way to get paint off tiles like that is by washing them with turps or brush cleaner, it should dissolve the paint and make it soft enough to scrub off with a nylon scourer. Then clean them thoroughly with disinfectant a couple of times.0

B&Q (and probably others) sell a really good tile scraper - works a treat at getting paint off tiles.0
