Ebay

When I make a purchase I get a variety of emails generated as a result of the purchase.

Recently the goods arrived and were incorrect. I opened one of the emails generated as a result of the purchase and replied to it explaning the problem. When I heard nowt I opened a dispute in the resolution centre. The seller responded immediately and corrected the error without any fuss and with profuse appologies. He also enquired as to why I had not attempted to contact him. I said I did. I assumed if I replied to emails generated as a result of a sale they would find their way back to the seller?

I also remember reading we should only communicate with sellers through ebay and thought I was correct in so doing.

Confused.

Mike

Ebay emails *should* reach the seller, but a seller with a high turnover might just not bother looking in the message folder. I sometimes miss a message for a day or two as well as ebay send so many emails themselves it is easy not to remember to check them every day.

It depends which email regarding the sale you answered, some of them will be from Ebay and not the seller (although technically now they are all from Ebay), so if you reply they'll end up in an email black hole.

The whole messaging system needs a rehaul anyway.
I occasionally get disgruntled messages from buyers asking why I haven't responded to a previous message that I can't find anywhere in the system.

Never reply to an email you have received through eBay. Log in to eBay and go to my messages, then reply from there. I have never had an email go missing if I do it that way.
It may sometimes seem like I can't spell, I can, I just can't type

only if the replied message is to an ebay member. if you reply to a message sent by ebay this is never saved in your sent folder.
