waxing V laser

I spend a fortune at the beauty salon on facial waxing. I am thinking of having laser hair removal, would it be cheaper in the long run? has anyone tried it?

I was talking about this today as I have considered it. From the research I did before and the discussions I had today, laser hair removal is not guaranteed to be permanent, can be hit and miss, particularly for light hair and can result in thicker, darker re-growth.
  • My mate had it and she's beardy free for over a year now ;)

I bought a home waxing kit (the Rio one from Argos) and my boyfriend does my legs and bikini for me, that saves me a truck load!!

I had laser hair removal on my under arms and bikini line a good 5 years ago when they did it at some boots' branches. I think it was the best money I ever spent! You have to go for several sessions as your hair grows at different rates and it has to be growing for it to work. I have fair skin and dark hair and so was a perfect candidate - the results are better the bigger the colour difference between hair and skin.
I had 4 sessions in total and the hair hasnt grown back. One thing to bear in mind is that you cant wax between treatments only shave, so that may be a prob if it's facial hair you want to treat.
It can hurt a bit on sensitive areas but IMO not as much as waxing does!
    HTH.

I've not shaved my legs for three weeks and keep telling my hubby that the hair is there for a reason - to keep me warm when we go skiing!!!!
It's just the funniest thing when he strokes my leg now and tells me how soft it is.:rotfl:

My sis had laser and the results were fab - she's hair free for 95% of the time and only has very faint regrowth

Just curious ... how long do you need to let the hair grow before you have treatment? I have a bit of a hair problem but as it's quite visible I really don't want to be having to let it grow for ages. I'm quite keen to have the laser treatment but I'd love to hear about other people's experiences :)

I did consider it for the odd chin hair (yuck!) that I have since I had a baby, but the girl in the beauty salon explained that I had to come in on the exact day that they told me (because of the growth cycle) and as I work I decided it just wasn't possible. I have an epilator for my legs and bikini line and think that's brilliant, I'm not sure if you can get facial ones but I'm sure you can. Might be worth a try.
  • I must admit i have a bit of a top lip, but i get rid of it with hair removal cream! I only use it for my top lip so a tube of Nair from Home Bargains is about £2.00 and last for ages!

I get my legs and downstairs area done at the salon, cause my place is just as cheap as a pack of waxing strips from the shop, plus i always ask for a discount cause i book my next session when i'm there, they always knock a couple of quid off. Can't complain at £7 for legs and bikini line me thinks!

  • Another way i get great treatments, is at the local college. Beauty courses are always inviting people to come in so their trainees have people to practise on. In my local place it's £3.50 for manicure/pedicure, £5 for neck, shoulder and back massage, and £7.50 for a full body massage!!! For those prices you can't complain!
