uniform rebate, got letter to say il get £76 for 2010-11, what about last 6 years??

I got the letter to say I will receive 76 pounds but it says from years 2010-2011, in the uniform rebate letter I asked for money back from the last 6 years?? They said the cheque will be sent separately?

They may have stated that the rebate is for 2010-11 but the amount sounds like it could be about right for 6 years total (including 10-11). If you are a lower rate tax payer and were getting the (current) flat rate of £60 for 6 years:

£60 x 20% = £12

£12 x 6 years = £72


There were rate changes from 2008 and there are various rates for different occupations, but £76 sounds like it could fit for 6 years, it's certainly way too much for one year, unless you a Seaman Carpenter claiming £165 and are paying 50% tax, in which case I suppose you could get £82.50...... though that seems unlikely!
