Bank took money from my account after I asked them NOT to.

Hi all. Not sure of this is the right place to ask my question...but...here goes anyway. I had a standing international relay payment going out of my account to my dad every month in SA. He no longer needs my financial help, so I went into the bank on Monday and asked them cancel it. The bank assured me that no monies would go out of my account this month and they would see to that immediately.
I woke up this morning and checked my account and I will be blowed if the money hasn't gone out anyway.
My mortgage is due to run tomorrow and there is now insufficient funds in my account to cover that.
How do I get that money back without either myself or my father incurring additional costs???
All help will be appreciated!
Thanks much
Clare
