Hey - I applied for a Northern Rock Current Account the other day, I was wondering if anyone was with them and if so what you think of them?
Also I wanted to double check it does come with a debit card as the website isn't exactly clear around that, although I am assuming it must come with some sort of card?

Northern Rock?
Why in gods name you want to be with them ?
(it does come with a debit card) - Few members here have them and posted screens of them.• HSBC (Main A/C)
• Halifax Back up A/C
• Lloyds (Spending) A/C
• RBS Back up A/C
• Barclays Old A/C
• Nationwide Old A/C0 -

It's a last resort, I have tried to get an account with Natwest, Lloyds, Barclays, Nationwide etc etc and they are all declining me, even for a basic account! So if Northern Rock will give me an account then its all I can doIf you are not very careful, your possessions will possess you!0

Hopefully your not doing this all in the same month, otherwise you'll come across as 'desperate' and be declined.0

You might be best checking the CRA records for a CIFAS marker if nobody will accept you.0

When I applied at Barclays I did see something about a CIFAS come up on the screen but the bloke said he couldn't disclose information that comes back off my credit file? Can a CIFAS be removed? And if not how am I meant to open a bank account? If you are not very careful, your possessions will possess you!0

It does say though:
It plans to phase out the Northern Rock name over the next nine months, but stressed that Northern Rock’s existing 111,800 current account holders will not be forced to switch to paid accounts.
So from that im presuming the charge will only apply to new account holders.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0
