Ebay, someone has put 10 consecutive bids on my item!

Hi I have an auction finishing in 1 hour and it had a couple of bids on and 5 people watching.
Someone has put 10 bids on over a period of 20 minutes. Will this put other bidders off? The number of watchers has dropped down to 2!

They have increased their bid each time. It wouldn't put me off as they may have only increased it by the minimum amount each time.0

I don't understand. You're complaining that someone really wants your item and keeps bidding on it? How is that not a good thing? One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

It could be seen as shilling? Or at least that's what I think the OP means, and if you do, don't worry about it.0

they could have placed a maximum bid and when others bid the system will automatically place a higher bid until they reach their maximum bid0

No, not complaining... just confused. I couldn't understand why they didn't put 1 max bid on it. I was wondering if it was a tactic to put other bidders off. Just looking for opinions/experience really
thanks

It makes it look like a popular auction and therefore put people off bidding. Technique used by bidders. Nothing you can do about it0

I usually have 2 web pages open, One with the listing with the countdown and another where i have entered
my maximum bid and just need to click confirm.
Dont really take any notice of how many bids have been placed before. I did wonder when i bought 2 identical
items off one seller, Ex argos returns by the looks of them.
1st one i got for less than 1/2 the new price, Thought im going to collect anyway so can afford a bit more on the 2nd one.
I put about £5 less than the new (sale) price and won it with pennies below that. Did make me wonder if something dodgy had been going on.
It was after i thought i shouldnt have paid that much. But i did so i went and collected and paid up.

That is exactly what I used to do and bid at the last 10 seconds but there really is no need to do that now since eBay updated their website. You can now enter your bid, click 'place bid' and a box appears with the countdown and number of bids so you can still bid at the last 10 seconds so no need to open a new tab or browser and watch the countdown in another window.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
I do sometime bid up to see whether the highest bid is by the other person as you can usually work it out. Sometimes is 10 bids, and you don't always end up being the highest bidder, still items I want...and helps the buyer get a higher price!0
