Selling my car on ebay - any advice

I am a moderately experienced ebayer and have had nothing but good buying/selling experiences. But I am now selling my car, which I think will go for about £500.
I listed last night, and the first bid is on, just the sort of bidder I want - long term ebayer, steady but boring stream of transactions, nothing obviously dodgy.
But now I have a question from a member who has zero feed back, and wants a buy it now price. I am not going to give a buy it now price, but I am also concerned that he will start bidding. I said in the ad that if the bidders had feedback of less than 3 to email before bidding, but I am not actually sure what I can do about bidders I think are dodgy.
The thing is that we HAVE to sell the car on a certain weekend, and if we get messed around it will cause a major problem (we are moving overseas), so while I usually give people the benefit of the doubt, in this case, I would rather get a lower price than have a bad buyer.
Any tips - also, does anyone have views on whether the bidder id's should be private? I thought ebay had decided all car auctions were going to display bidder 1/bidder 2 formats, but I now notice mine has the whole id.
Many thanks for any thoughts you might have.

if you are not heappy with this 0 feedback ebayer add him to your blocked bidders list, this way ebay will stop them bidding on your item....
i sold a car on ebay and had many offers of a buy it now...never accepted them
why not add to the bottom of your listing, please do not email with a buy it now price as i will not end the auction early !!0 -
I wouldn't worry about it too much providing Buyer has to pick up the car and pay cash.
If a bidder starts to mess up auction just remove thier bid and block them.
Remember everyone starts at zero.0 -
Sorry for hijacking the thread but I have a question too.
When you buy used cars you always find niggling things the sellers either didnt know or didnt mention.
So how doess that relate to ebay. I mean if you sell a car and exchange all the documents etc.. what happens if they complain about a fault and start a paypal dispute!!!!0 -

You don't accept paypal - I never would for an item that is being collected, especially an expensive one like a car. When they collect you get them to sign a receipt saying 'sold as seen, tried and tested'.0 -
I wouldnt accept paypal, no way, but just worried about those stupid ebay disputes. Or are disputes solely through paypal now and not ebay.0

Avoid using Paypal.
When listing your item you can add preferences for your bidders e.g. no overseas bidders, bidders with strikes, bidders with zero feedback (or less than x feedback).
You could go as far as to have it as a "pre-approved" only auction - prospective buyers must then call you so you can check they understand the auction and when they must collect the car, then you can approve their eBay user ID so they can bid accordingly.0 -

Pre-approved bidding has been stopped by eBay now. Whenever I sell cars on eBay I contact dodgy looking bidders and ask them to contact me with their HOME telephone number and if they don't reply I remove their bid. NEVER EVER accept overseas bids or people buying for an overseas 'friend'.
Good luck with it!Don't blame me, it was like that when I got here!0 -
Ill get my old car photographed and on ebay this weekend!! End of an era!! Had it 6 years!!
I acutally bought my new car on ebay. 96 BMW 318i se! The car garage said I got lucky and said never to buy from ebay.. but I guess its in their interest we dont.0 -
sold my car and also put on advert £100 deposit into my paypal account within 24hours of car being sold no refunds !!
