Do i need to refund?
Sold a BNIB pair of shoes-i'm a private seller. Week later get email saying they are too small and what is my addy to send back?
Do i need to refund if they just dont fit? Theres nothing wrong with them--well there better not be now!
And do i need to refund the original postage? surely not?

If you don't offer a refund the buyer may say there is something wrong with them to allow them to open a case. At least if you do offer a refund, you can ask the buyer to do a mutual so you get your fvf back and they should come back in good order.0

Not 100% certain what the rules governing private sellers are.
There is a difference between fixed price and auction, so you have more options for saying no if it was an auction.
The other question is, why don't they fit? If it is because the size is wrong then you would have to refund (eg if they are labelled as a size 10 and they are actually a size 5), if it's the buyer's fault they don't fit, then again you have more options to say no.
Ultimately though it is usually easier to just refund on return as said above, they can say there is a fault or whatever and open "not as described claim" where Paypal will hold your funds received for payment and Ebay will instruct buyer to return for refund. Ebay would make you pay back the full amount paid..0 -
They were on a best offer and were the correct size 7. Shes just saying they dont fit her. Ive blooming bought myself new boots with the money now-grrr0

Sorry but l would stick to my guns and not refund. You are a private seller so not bound by DSR's you have an email/message which mentions her reason (do not fit) to share with Ebay should she go down the route of claiming otherwise.
I just know l wouldn't be held ransom by a buyer just to protect my ebay cred as a private seller.0 -
Out of interest, did you list the EU size as well as the UK size?
The reason I ask is because sometimes they don't always match up.
For example, I'm a UK 6, which is normally EU 39, but some places, such as M&S list their size 6s ans EU 39.5, and they are the wrong size for me.0 -
You put the size. its up to the buyer to know what size they are. If you put in your listing no refunds unless faulty, explain saying sorry there is nothing wrong with them I an unwilling to refund. Ebay will be on your side, unless you put in your listing that you would refund if they didnt fit.
If you put in your listing at all that you don't do refunds, you wont have to refund them. I have always put no refunds. And someone who brought a phone of me tried to swap it with a dodgey one of theres. I called ebay, and two different members of staff told me, if you have "no refunds" in the listing. It does what it says on the tin, and ebay cant make you refund. UNLESS item is not what you listed.0
