Bit of Amazon help appreciated pls.

Hi, I just started using Amazon a few months ago and have only had probs with one order ... ordered a DVD and it was marked as 'DISPATCHING SOON' ... next thing i know Amazon email me asking me to contact the seller to find out when they'll deliver.

never got a reply.

Anyhoo it should have been delivered by 1st November but it wont let me cancel the transaction and the seller has gone awol.

1. Will the order be cancelled automatically at some point because I would like to buy the DVD but don't want 2 copies.

2. Will I be able to leave them bad feedback? I don't have an option to do so.

I've emailed them twice, they are just not there anymore but I dont want the money going out of my account after I buy another one.

Has the money gone from your account? With Amazon, a seller needs to mark the order as dispatched (which will generate an email to you saying your order is on its way). If they don't do that, then you won't be charged for the order.

It might be that the seller's gone AWOL as you said, and isn't checking their emails. In which case, you should be able to cancel, I think, but I'm not sure how you do that - it might be worth contacting Amazon's customer services in the morning to see if they can cancel it for you.
  • Thanks Andrew. No, no money has been taken, but I can't cancel the order either, so if they decided to send me the dvd they would get the money, but I might have bought another one in the meantime as it is past the time stated, I dont want to wait a month on a DVD when other sellers send out within a couple of days.

The only option of complaint I have is that they sent a faulty item.

They've got other items for sale, zero feedback ... looks like it was a good idea at the time and gave up with it. I just thought I'd give a new seller a chance to get started.

Amazon orders are automatically cancelled after around a month. Amazon requires sellers to respond to emails within 3 days so if the seller isn't responding I'd contact Amazon and advise of the problem. Generally Amazon advise buyers to contact the seller and if they don't respond then to file an A-Z claim. However, I would assume you can't file a claim for an item that shows as not dispatched.
  • Tanks F and L, if amazon cancel it then that'll be fine.

Is it free to sell on amazon, cos i cant imagine they would pay then go awol. x

No it cetainly isn't free to sell on Amazon! However it's free to list, unlike on ebay.
