Courier to Malta

I keep getting enquiries to ship an item we sell to Malta, cheapest rate I can find is £40 or so for a 4-5kg parcel.
Anyone know any one doing any better? Really needs to be half that to be viable.

Somewhere on the MSE Forums there is a thread about couriers costs, which includes The Post Office and all the freight companies. I found your post while searching for it, and that's as close as I can get to finding it. If anyone can redirect me/us, I'd be really grateful!

On a slightly more positive note, a scientist I know researched the cheapest quickest way to get a carton of books to Palermo, Sicily, and she (and subsequently all her colleagues) found UPS the cheapest. I was just looking for confirmation before I used them.
    Better is good enough.

£40 is quite cheap. I doubt you'll get it for much less. The problem is that it is an island stuck out in the middle of the sea with limited transportation to it.

That was my answer to the customer, I can probably get return flights and a week in a hotel for the price one courier quoted. Perhaps I could get an order for a few and fly there myself.

It does seem odd, even though it is an island a way away, they do have strong British connections so thought there may be a small independent courier doing regular work there.
Dimensions would be fairly small, no more than 30cm cubed.

Thanks for that, that thread is a little hard to navigate and as I said above I did wonder if there was any independents who did Malta that would be outside any of the courier resellers.

We ship daily to Malta and use transglobalexpress - they may not be the cheapest but I thoroughly recommend them.
