Why are banks so much trouble?

I was considering applying for a refund of bank charges, but thought against it as I didn't think any other bank would have me. Basically I'm currently on benefits with a bad credit history, so I thought I'd stay with Lloyds not apply for a refund but keep my online banking and a Visa debit card (which is really useful!!!).
However.....I recently noticed a £10 transaction for O2 Prepay, which was unusual as I'm with Orange...so I reported it as a fraudulent withdrawal. I didn't want to lose anymore money (big debt + benefits = every penny counts!!). Spoke to the help desk and they blocked my card and said they would send a new one.
I then got a letter saying "thanks for your recent application for a debit card...but sorry we can't accept you due to credit score!!" I was livid!! I did the right thing by reporting a fraud, now I'm not allowed a debit card! I wish I'd kept my gob shut and run the risk of more money disappearing!
I have now applied to citibank (fingers crossed) but didn't see the £50 quidco :rolleyes2 Oh well!!
If citibank accept me....a claim for £1353 will be winging its way to Lloyds!!!
Sorry I felt the need for a rant!!

Reclaiming your bank charges will have no affect on you getting an account with another.0 -

whats the weather like in boro its hailing down here, not had much else the odd rain cloud, but no real snow, my sister used to live in guisbrough and it was always different there.
Not too sure, curtains drawn. Heard the rain earlier. I'm just up laid on the couch with my laptop. OH upstairs asleep.
Suppose I should drag myself off to bed!0 -
sgx.saint has made alot of people happy with citibank.
To be fair, there was an original poster who mentioned they had success getting an account whilst in an IVA, I just made sure the information was circulated0 -
yes but to be fair to you, it was your post that caught my eye, and it's thanks to you that I now have a citibank account with all the trimmings, and a halifax DC which not sure if I still want now that I've got the citibank one, just applied for the savers account through quidco so that will help alot as well, I used to leave my money in my barclays cashcard account but didnt get anything back for doing that. so give yourself a big pat on the back as you've made my year so far.

I figured the OP was saying they didn't think they could get an account elsewhere and were worried that Lloyds would close their present account once a claim for repayment of charges was made.0 -

Start the charges claim anyway!! Loads have claimed from Lloyds and their accounts have not been closed. What they usually do from what I can tell is refund the charges straight into your account.
