Paypal basic v premium

I have both types of accounts and prefer to use the basic account to receive payments for items I sell. I have had had a few problems lately with people paying into my basic account from debit/credit cards, which I have had to refuse and then email to ask them to make payment into my other account or send a cheque. Does anyone else have this problem and is there any other way apart from changing to the premium account of resolving it? either by better description in my listings or something else?

If you tick the 'I accept paypal' box then you can't refuse to take payments however they are funded.
If however you don't tick the 'I accept paypal' and merely state in your listings that you will take payments from an existing paypal balance then you can refuse payments that don't comply.
From a buyers point of view though if people search like I do for items where the seller accepts paypal I would never even see an auction where the 'I accept paypal. box is not ticked so you may lose buyers. From a sellres point of view continually rejecting payments and having to manually invoice people every time an auction ends (as of course the paypal option will not show ) is too much hassle for me.

Maybe you could sort this out by having different e-mail addresses for the different accounts. Then you could put the relevant e-mail address for the account on which you accept the cards when you are selling. Problem solved!:j0

thanks for the replies. I have ticked i accept paypal but obviously i can only then accept a certain ammount of payments from credit/debit cards into the basic account per year. i think i will have to just start using the premium account instead.0
